In Hong Kong, there are around 16,500 single-parent families, being one-fourth with children raised by single fathers. While there are resources available to non-governmental organisations that aim to enhance the family life of the children and to improve the well-being of single parents who shoulder the responsibility alone, we recognise that single fathers are less likely to be the direct beneficiaries of such service. This phenomenon appears because of the traditional value orientation on gender roles and parenting. There are also only few organizations serving/treating single fathers as service targets in the society. 

WholeHearted is founded by four university students with the vision to not only bring changes to such phenomena, but also fully support single fathers and their children. By creating deliverables such as resource booklets and conducting legal research on family law development, we hope to shed light on the situations faced by single-father families while collaborating with other actors such as NGOs, lawyers and social workers.

The Initiative also strives to promote pro bono work and awareness to the public. Apart from creating guides and booklets, WholeHearted recruits student executives and associates from university students to conduct research on policy changes and aims to hold public events. We hope to encourage the new generation to engage in pro bono work and ultimately urge society to help single fathers in need.
